Illusions

"Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone, you may still exist, but you have ceased to live."

  1. 1. Do not kick out peoples' illusions before you are sure that the new upcoming illusions will not be worse.

    2. Never believe that truth is the most important thing on earth.

    3. Never forget, that the fact, that love is more important than truth, has already become an awful doom for an enormous lot of people.

    4. Nevertheless do not get paralyzed by this three heinous obstacles.

  4. In 1869 in the USA newspaper there was the case of the "giant fo Cardiff". Someone pretended, he had found huge petrified bones...

Mark Twain, bored by the petrification mania of that time invented a story on the marble Venus of the Capitole in Rome and wrote an article affirming that it wasn't a sculpture but a prehistoric woman petrified by sediments etc.

People didn't always realize that it was a joke, and other newspapers published his article as if it was a scientific paper.
