"Integrity has no need of rules."
Albert Camus

  1. But noone remains integer, and healing needs rules. And even in order to remain integer, it is very helpful to get good rules by an experienced person who understands our situation, since the best rules are not always of timeless validity. The encounter with the experienced person is one of the best things that can be lived exactly for this reason.

Rules are never unfailing. Even the best rules are not unfailing. This is the reason why even wise people - and not only Camus - sometimes state that "there are no recepies". What a bullshit. Good will, attention, patience and honesty are a good recepy anyway, but not an unfailable one.

It is not so difficult to do the right thing, but it can be very difficult to know what the right thing is. When we know what is right to do, it becomes difficult not to do it.
